Overview
TrackLight (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the TrackLight web application at tracklight.app and the TrackLight Chrome extension. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Data We Collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Clerk.
Job application data
When you save a job using TrackLight or the Chrome extension, we store:
- The job posting URL
- Extracted job details (company, role, location, salary) processed via OpenAI
- Application status and notes you add
- Cover letters generated on your behalf
Profile data
If you use the auto-fill feature, you may provide profile information (name, contact details, work history, resume file) that is stored to pre-fill job application forms on your behalf. This data is stored securely and only used to fill forms when you explicitly trigger the auto-fill action.
Chrome extension
The TrackLight Chrome extension reads the URL and page content of job listing pages only when you click “Save Job” or “Auto-Fill.” It does not run in the background, track your browsing history, or read pages you haven’t interacted with. The extension uses your browser’s cookies solely to authenticate you with TrackLight.
Usage analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage analytics (e.g. which features are used) to improve the product. No personally identifiable information is included in these events beyond your account’s anonymous identifier.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the TrackLight service
- To extract and display job details from URLs you submit
- To generate cover letters tailored to job postings
- To auto-fill job application forms via the Chrome extension
- To send transactional emails related to your account (via Clerk)
- To improve the product through aggregated, anonymized analytics
We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual job applications at any time from the tracker. To request full deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at contact@tracklight.app.

- Export your data

Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database access is restricted to our application servers. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, but no system is completely immune to breaches. If a breach occurs that affects your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of TrackLight after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
